Community Partnership
We are proud to work with a variety of local organizations, promoting our mission through their programming while gaining important support in making the farm as successful as possible. We are especially appreciative of the support from the City Harvest Program, a project of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. We have also collaborated with:
Community Farmers
Among our most gratifying initiatives is our work with our community farmers who are members of South Philadelphia’s Burmese refugee community.
The community farmers become true farm leaders while also giving back to others as they help to distribute produce to food-insecure families. Participants are trained in skills such as sustainable growing, proper food handling and sales tracking. Receiving a supplemental stipend, they gain a support network and leadership skills as they adjust to life in Philadelphia. Our community farmers tell us they benefit from drastic improvements to their own mental health, an appreciation of community involvement and healthier eating.
Neighborhood Outreach
Novick Urban Farm uses neighborhood farm markets to connect to the community and provide specialty produce needed for cherished family meals. Our neighbors come from a variety of places around the globe and rely on Novick to provide affordable produce to create regional, healthy recipes and keep traditions alive for their children.
Apprenticeships
Novick Urban Farm offers apprentice opportunities involving farming, community outreach, childhood nutrition education. We love to give as well as receive knowledge from others and our interns are valued members of our team! Please contact us to discuss the availability of apprenticeships throughout the year.
